Arrowhead CEO: Helldivers 2 Our Focus as Long as Players Keep Buying In

Author : Owen May 18,2025

The developers of *Helldivers 2*, Arrowhead, have recently addressed fan concerns about the possibility of shifting focus away from the game to their upcoming project, referred to as "Game 6." CEO Shams Jorjani took to the official Helldivers Discord to clarify the situation following the launch of the full-scale Illuminate invasion.

Jorjani expressed gratitude for the community's support, stating, “The wonderful thing is that thanks to the amazing support of you FINE people Arrowhead's future is quite bright and we have the freedom to explore some really cool concepts that we couldn't have otherwise. Game 6 (our next project) will happen the way it will happen thanks to you.” However, this statement sparked worry among some fans who interpreted it as Arrowhead possibly diverting resources from *Helldivers 2*.

Jorjani was quick to dispel these concerns, emphasizing that *Helldivers 2* remains the company's primary focus. He reassured fans, stating, "Nah. It's ALL Helldivers 2 for now. A very, very small team will spin up something later this year and go at it sloowly. Helldivers is our main focus and will be for a loooong time."

When asked about the longevity of *Helldivers 2* content updates, Jorjani was optimistic, saying, "As long as you folks keep playing and buying Super Credits we can keep it going." He acknowledged past challenges but highlighted the turnaround and continued support from the community as reasons for a bright future.

In a related discussion, Jorjani responded to a fan's suggestion about making the next game available in all regions. He revealed that "The next game is 100% funded by ourselves so we'll call 100% of those shots," hinting that Arrowhead plans to self-fund the next project, which suggests it won't be *Helldivers 3* and will not involve Sony or another publisher.

Jorjani also shared insights into how Arrowhead plans to approach the development of Game 6 differently from *Helldivers 2*, which took eight years to complete. He explained the importance of focusing on core elements early in the development process: "For the most part of the development cycle games plain suck... Very seldom are they truly fun from the get-go. And for Helldivers taking eight years to make it was rough for the longest time. But it came together in the end. The ONLY way to know is to playtest playtest playtest. For our next game we're doing things in a much smarter way and nailing a lot of the core s**t early on (as you should) then make the rest."

These comments align with previous statements from Arrowhead developers who have expressed their desire for *Helldivers 2* to remain a vibrant game for many years. The game's remarkable success, having sold 12 million copies in just 12 weeks and becoming the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios game ever, underscores its significance. Despite various challenges since its release, including changes in PSN account requirements and community feedback on game balance, Arrowhead's commitment to *Helldivers 2* remains strong.

Alex Bolle, production director on *Helldivers 2*, reaffirmed this dedication in an interview with IGN, stating, “we want it to be around for years and years and years to come.” He discussed the ongoing challenge of maintaining the game's core identity while introducing new features and systems, highlighting the excitement of working in a live environment and the creative possibilities it offers.

Recent leaks, including one from PlayStation, suggest that players may soon see Super Earth as a playable map, as the Illuminate faction continues its advance towards our home planet.
