The eagerly anticipated action game, Lost Soul Aside, has encountered a delay in its release schedule. Initially set to launch on May 30, 2025, developer Ultizero Games has now postponed the release to August 29, 2025. This decision comes after nearly a decade of development for the PC and PlayStation 5 single-player title, which was poised to hit the market next month.
Ultizero Games expressed their gratitude for the global support the game has received since its announcement. "We are truly grateful for the positive response we've received from players all over the world since we announced Lost Soul Aside," the developer stated. They emphasized their commitment to delivering a high-quality gaming experience, explaining that the extra time will be used to refine and polish the game further. "To match the standards Ultizero Games have set for ourselves, we are going to take some additional time to polish the game. Lost Soul Aside will now release on August 29, 2025. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to our fans waiting for the launch."
Originally conceived as a passion project by solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved significantly. It is now a major title under Sony's China Hero Project, with Bing at the helm as the founder and CEO of Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games. In a recent interview with IGN, Yang Bing shared insights into the game's lengthy development journey, from its inception as a solo project to its reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast. The anticipation surrounding Lost Soul Aside has been fueled by its unique blend of Final Fantasy-inspired characters and the fast-paced combat reminiscent of Devil May Cry, a combination that captured attention when Bing's initial reveal video went viral back in 2016.
In Lost Soul Aside, players will control the protagonist Kesar, who uses a versatile, shape-shifting weapon to adapt his playstyle on the fly. Accompanying Kesar is Arena, a dragon-like companion capable of summoning abilities to aid in combat. The gameplay focuses on aerial dodging, precise timing, intricate combos, and counterattacks, set against the backdrop of large-scale boss encounters. The game's narrative promises a journey of "redemption and discovery" for Kesar, weaving a sci-fi storyline with contemporary aesthetics across multiple dimensions, though the full scope of the story remains somewhat elusive from the trailers released so far.
