Remedy's Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak, has surpassed one million players. Although the game is free for Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus subscribers, the studio described this as a "significant milestone," while acknowledging that "there is still plenty of work to be done."

"As of last night, FBC: Firebreak has welcomed over one million players. This is a significant milestone—thank you to everyone who has played, from the entire team at Remedy," the studio shared in a social media post.

"We're fully aware that there's more ahead, and we're excited to keep improving. There are many updates in the works for Firebreak players, and we'll share details soon."

Last week, the developers recognized an issue with the "first hour experience," noting that the opening segment of FBC: Firebreak wasn't delivering a strong impression due to factors like unclear onboarding, poorly explained systems and tools, and "a lack of direction regarding Jobs and how to perform them effectively." The team also noted that "the sense of empowerment is lacking early on, as starting weapons feel underpowered, and unlocking better gear requires too much grinding."

"Despite occasional gaps in the narrative, there’s plenty of enjoyment in battling chaotic creatures within Remedy’s bizarre bureaucratic universe," we noted in IGN's FBC: Firebreak review in progress. "I plan to dive deeper this week and complete my review once I’ve fully explored the chaotic cooperative job simulation that Remedy has built."

Remedy also recently outlined their roadmap for ongoing support, announcing two new Jobs (missions) scheduled for 2025. Additional updates are slated for 2026, with all post-launch playable content—including Jobs—being free for everyone. Cosmetic items will be available for purchase, though none will impact gameplay, and Remedy confirmed there will be no daily login rewards or time-limited rotations.

The studio behind Alan Wake is currently juggling multiple projects. In addition to FBC: Firebreak, they are developing Control 2 and the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake collection.
