The Holy Spirit is a Person, not just a force. From the very first page of the Bible, before creation began, we see the Spirit of God hovering over the earth’s dark, formless waters, ready to unleash goodness and bring forth life.

Throughout Scripture, when the Spirit of God is described—as in the opening verses—the Hebrew word "ruakh" is used. Ruakh speaks of an invisible, mighty energy essential for life, making "Spirit" the perfect name for God’s own Spirit.
