“Monster Hunter Wilds” Sees Captured Beasts Break Free

Author : Lucas Dec 30,2025

While most players think of Monster Hunter as primarily about slaying monsters, capturing them is also a major part of the experience. As Monster Hunter Wilds fans have noticed, if you capture a monster and linger afterward, you might witness a humorous little scene unfold.

Reddit user RDGtheGreat shared a clip on the r/MonsterHunter subreddit showing that if you wait long enough after capturing a monster, you get to see a bit of "behind-the-scenes" action. Specifically, the monster simply gets up and walks away.

Fun fact: captured monsters just get up and leave within a minute of napping

After capturing a Nu Udra and waiting, the massive cephalopod eventually just stood up and left. Many comments compared the moment to a film crew wrapping up a scene, which is quite amusing.

As for in-universe reasons behind this behavior, it's worth remembering the research team doesn't have enormous cages. The idea that Monster Hunter Wilds employs a catch-and-release method for studying monsters fits perfectly with Alma and her crew's overall approach throughout the story.

Regardless of the lore explanation, it's a charming detail. It's impressive that the developers at Capcom accounted for this situation and created a unique animation, rather than having the monster simply vanish. It looks a bit comical watching this creature, now missing several limbs, scurry off into the distance. Still, it's a thoughtful inclusion that might offer insight into how Alma and her team conduct their research.
