Four difficulty levels are available: Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), Hero (hard), and Ultimate Warrior (very hard). Ultimate Warrior unlocks after completing a faction's main scenario. Note that completing a battle on Ultimate Warrior earns a Trophy/Achievement, but campaign completion doesn't have difficulty-specific rewards.

Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?

Historian is ideal for newcomers or players prioritizing story over challenge. Wayfarer provides a balanced experience suitable for most players, even those with limited Musou experience. Hero is recommended for series veterans seeking a greater challenge. Ultimate Warrior is best suited for experienced Musou players looking for a significant increase in difficulty after unlocking it. Difficulty can be adjusted between battles via the config menu without impacting the storyline.

Difficulty Mode Differences in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Historian simplifies combat, making enemy attacks easily blockable and enhancing staggering, bravery gain, and Musou Gauge filling. Hero increases enemy strength and aggression, reduces parry/evade windows, removes Meat Bun drops, depletes bravery on blocking, limits battlefield influence, and slightly decreases Skill Points and gold earned. Ultimate Warrior intensifies these Hero mode challenges, further tightening parry/evade windows and drastically reducing battle rewards.
