The tingklik is a traditional bamboo musical instrument from Bali.
The tingklik is a traditional Balinese bamboo instrument crafted into blade-shaped keys. Players strike these bamboo blades with a mallet called a pallet. In gamelan ensembles, two types are used: Tingklik Polos and Tingklik Sangsih. A standard tingklik features 11 to 25 bamboo blades, with the precise number varying based on musical scale requirements. Musicians play using both hands - the right hand performs melodic patterns (kotekan) while the left maintains rhythm (bun). Sometimes performers alternate roles, using the right hand for decorative patterns (sangsih) and the left for basic tones (polos).
