Zynga’s Words With Friends Launches a New Feature Called Letter Lock

Zynga has introduced an exciting new feature called Letter Lock for its popular game Words With Friends. This fresh addition brings a solo gameplay mode that many fans have been eagerly anticipating. Alongside this update, there are several other enhancements and events to explore—so read on to learn more.

What is Letter Lock in Words With Friends?

Letter Lock is a brand-new daily puzzle experience designed for solo play. Unlike traditional word games where you type out words, here you interact by sliding columns of letters vertically. The objective? Arrange real words across the central entry row by shifting the letter stacks into place.

Once you successfully form a valid word, additional columns open up, allowing you to construct longer and more complex words. This continues until you reach the puzzle’s target word length. However, every incorrect attempt costs you hearts, and if you lose too many, the puzzle ends immediately.

Although it's not exactly like Wordle, Letter Lock captures a similar essence—offering fast-paced, clever, and engaging daily word challenges. To get a better idea of how it plays, check out the official trailer below:

The Game Is Evolving to Stay Engaging

According to Yaron Leyvand, Executive Vice President of Mobile Games at Zynga, features like Letter Lock are a direct response to player feedback. Longtime users have expressed a desire for more single-player content, and Zynga aims to keep the game dynamic and relevant by delivering just that.

In addition to Letter Lock, Zynga has launched the Spring into Words event. This update introduces a variety of new daily puzzles and gameplay modes such as Guess Word and Crosswords. Players can also enjoy seasonal rewards, exclusive Tile Styles, and limited-time themed events.
