Yu Yu Hakusho: Slugfest has arrived on mobile devices. This officially licensed RPG was developed by Hong Kong studio Zenifun Technology, bringing Yoshihiro Togashi’s universe of spirit detectives, demon realms, and martial arts tournaments to your fingertips.
The original manga series first appeared in November 1990. Created by Yoshihiro Togashi, it drew inspiration from his passion for horror films, Buddhist mythology, and supernatural themes. The series delivered everything manga fans love: street brawls, memorable characters, afterlife bureaucracy, demon clashes, and tournament action.
So, what happens in Yu Yu Hakusho: Slugfest?
Set in the same world as the original manga and anime, the game begins at the very start of the story. You follow Yusuke Urameshi, a 14-year-old delinquent who dies after pushing a child out of the path of an oncoming car.
This kicks off a surreal journey through the afterlife, where Yusuke becomes an Underworld Detective. He tackles supernatural cases that grow increasingly dangerous as the story transitions into fierce combat scenarios.
You can build teams with characters like Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama, Genkai, Younger Toguro, Sensui, and Yomi. Each brings distinct abilities to the fight, and experimenting with different lineups can reveal tactical opportunities.
The game uses a gacha system, so collecting your favorite fighters is part of the experience. You can engage in PvE battles and recruit characters through the Demon World, or test your skills in competitive PvP and Guild vs. Guild matches via the Dark Tournament mode.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Slugfest not only retells the core story—it also explores deeper arcs such as the opening to the Demon Realm and the Demon World Tournament. That means there’s plenty of fresh material to experience. Check out the gameplay below.
