Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable opponent.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb or use the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer Board Game

Inside, players encounter a board game with six pieces. Controlling the black pieces, players aim to create three-in-a-row before the Lifer (white pieces). Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. Exiting preserves piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Winning before buff removal is not advised, as the Lifer immediately attacks.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using Stakes of Imbalance, while three are permanent. Buff details are visible on a yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (using Stakes of Imbalance):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without being attacked.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase; additional 25% DMG increase every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG dealt (stacks up to 4 times; resets after 6 seconds without DMG).
  • Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all element types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc); 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs:

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduction in Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP in a single hit.

Obtaining Stakes of Imbalance:

Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a glowing white Stake of Imbalance. One room requires defeating Tacet Discords, another involves breaking Friable Rocks, and one is simply on a table.

Place each Stake of Imbalance in the corresponding module to remove a buff (purple lines turn yellow).

Defeating the Lifer

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker.

Victories yield rewards:

  • First Victory: Premium Supply Chest
  • Second Victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
  • Third Victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests

Re-enable buffs via the modules for a greater challenge (no achievements for this).

Achievements:

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (three victories).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game 10 times.

For the board game, focus on preventing the Lifer from creating lines; it will eventually make a mistake.
