Sid Meier's Civilization VI on Android is set to receive a substantial update that has been anticipated for some time. On June 12th, the Android edition will align with all other platforms in terms of available content, features, and gameplay refinements, delivering a comprehensive experience to mobile players.
New Units, Maps, Modes, and Numerous Improvements
Aspyr is deploying this significant update to provide mobile users with a more complete version of Civilization VI. The game will welcome three new military units. First is the Trebuchet, a siege unit from the Medieval Era that offers a notable advancement over the Catapult and later upgrades into the Bombard.
Next is the Man-at-Arms, which evolves from the Swordsman and subsequently becomes the Musketman. Additionally, the Line Infantry is joining as an Industrial-era unit, following the Musketman and paving the way to the Infantry unit.
Players will gain access to two new maps: the Mediterranean Large Map and the Earth Huge Map. Both feature more authentic terrain and resource distribution. Each map also includes a variant that allows you to begin the game from the historical capital of your selected civilization.
New game modes include the Tech and Civic Shuffle Mode, which randomizes technologies and civics within each era, creating fresh strategic pathways. The Barbarian Clans Mode overhauls the Barbarian mechanic, replacing standard tribes with seven distinct clans that can evolve into full-fledged City-States.
Beyond new units, two new customization options are arriving: the Natural Wonder Picker and the City-State Picker. These tools let you select which wonders and city-states will appear in your game world.
Furthermore, the new Leader Selection Pool allows you to pick from a predefined roster of leaders, which now includes the addition of Julius Caesar.
Civilization VI Android Introduces Two New Passes Alongside Units and Maps
The June 12th update includes even more content. Android users will finally be able to purchase the New Frontier Pass and the Leader Pass. The New Frontier Pass is priced at $29.99 and introduces eight new civilizations, nine new leaders, and six additional game modes.
The Leader Pass will be available for $19.99, adding 12 new leaders along with six alternate versions of existing leaders. These expansion passes have been available on other platforms for some time.
You can download Civilization VI from the Google Play Store now and prepare for this major update.
