Mark your calendars! Umamusume: Pretty Derby is galloping towards its English debut, set to launch globally on June 26, 2025. The announcement came via a tweet from developer Cygames on April 27, with pre-registrations opening the very next day on April 28.
Originally launched in Japan on February 24, 2021, for iOS, Android, and PC, this unique game blends racing and idol culture. In Umamusume: Pretty Derby, legendary racehorses are reborn as "horse girls" or "Umamusume." These characters, resembling high school girls with equine features, train at Tokyo's Tracen Academy with dreams of becoming top racers and idols.
The game's Steam page promises an immersive sports life simulation, featuring an in-depth training system and stunning 3D graphics. Players can scout and train over 20 different Uma Musumes and compete in races. The game also includes a gacha system, adding excitement to the scouting process.
PocketGamer.biz reported in March 2025 that the Japanese version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby generated over $2.5 billion in mobile revenue within just four years, nearly reaching $1 billion in its first year alone. Cygames aims to achieve similar success with the English release.
