Warframe's TennoCon 2024: A Blast from the Past with Warframe: 1999
TennoCon 2024 was a resounding success, unveiling the exciting new Warframe update: 1999! This massive expansion promises to be one of the series' most ambitious yet, transporting players to a retro-futuristic 1999 with a Y2K virus threat.
Before the main event, a prologue quest, "The Lotus Eaters," launches in August 2024. Reuniting players with a beloved character, this quest sets the stage for the 1999 update and introduces Sevatgoth Prime and their exclusive weapons. Completing "The Lotus Eaters" is a prerequisite for experiencing Warframe: 1999, slated for release in Winter 2024.
Warframe: 1999 plunges players into a Techrot-infested 1990s city, Höllvania, on an alternate Earth. Players navigate this corrupted landscape using Atomicyles, futuristic vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and explosive maneuvers. Six heroes, the Hex team, each equipped with Protoframes (human-revealing Warframes), lead the charge.
The Hex team features a star-studded voice cast including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler. Players can interact with them via instant messaging, adding a unique, 90s-style social element.
Adding to the 90s theme, players will battle a Technocyte-infected boy band, On-lyne, led by Zeke (voiced by Nick Apostolides). Their infectious music is available on streaming platforms.
Fashion takes center stage with upgraded fashion systems. Players can equip two fashion frame loadouts and utilize new Gemini Skins to bring Protoframes like Arthur and Aoi into the Origin System, complete with fully voiced lines.
Beyond Warframe: 1999, Digital Extremes announced a collaboration with THE LINE to produce an anime short, and the release of stunning Heirloom skins for Ember (available now) and Rhino (coming early 2025).
With Warframe: 1999's winter release approaching, now's the perfect time to jump into the action! Download Warframe from the App Store.
