In a flurry of exciting announcements, we not only have the official title for Project Mugen, but also the news that Tencent-owned Polaris Quest's upcoming open-world RPG, Light of Motiram, is set to grace mobile devices alongside its release on Epic Games, Steam, and PlayStation 5. This ambitious project aims to blend base-building, survival elements, creature collection and customization, co-op gameplay, and crossplay features, which raises the question: Is this too ambitious for a mobile platform?

Light of Motiram seems to defy easy categorization. As I delved into the details on the store page, my mind wandered across various genres. Is it an open-world RPG like Genshin Impact? Or does its base-building mechanic align it more with Rust? The inclusion of giant mechanical animals reminiscent of Horizon Zero Dawn, which players can train and customize, suggests a touch of Palworld's influence. It's as if the developers at Polaris Quest are throwing everything into the mix, perhaps to sidestep accusations of copying other games—particularly from Horizon fans who might feel a bit miffed by the similarities.

This approach is both surprising and impressive, sparking intrigue about how such a visually rich and mechanically complex game will perform across multiple platforms. The skepticism is palpable, especially regarding the feasibility of running Light of Motiram on mobile devices. Yet, it seems that a mobile beta is in development, hinting at Tencent and Polaris Quest's confidence in delivering this multifaceted experience on smartphones.
