Bring Large Dung Pods
Hirabami presents a challenging boss fight in Monster Hunter Wilds. Unlike most monsters that roam solo, Hirabami prefers to hunt in groups, making them a formidable opponent. To manage this, equip yourself with Large Dung Pods. These invaluable items can disperse the monsters, allowing you to tackle them one at a time effectively.
Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo
Hirabami's penchant for floating in the air can be particularly frustrating, especially for melee weapon users. Ranged weapon users like those wielding a Bow will have less trouble, but for others, Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo is key. This ammo can be fired from your Slinger to bring the Hirabami down. If you're out of ammo, aim to sever Hirabami's tail; it will drop a Tail Claw Shard that can be converted into Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo.
Utilize Environmental Traps
The Hirabami's battle arena in the Iceshard Cliffs is dotted with environmental traps such as Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. By cleverly using these traps, you can stun and deal significant damage to Hirabami. Dropping one of these on the monster's head can turn the tide of the fight in your favor.
Aim for the Head
The head is the most vulnerable part of Hirabami, but reaching it can be tricky given its tendency to float. Ranged weapon users will find it easier to target the head, while melee users should focus on the neck when the creature descends. Avoid attacking the torso, as it is heavily armored and less effective.
Watch the Tail
Hirabami's unpredictable movements add to the challenge. It often tries to bite or spit at you, and its high-flying dive attacks can catch you off guard. Keep an eye on its head to anticipate these moves and dodge effectively. Additionally, be cautious of its tail, which it swings like a hammer, capable of smashing you if you're not vigilant.

To capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds, you must first reduce its health to 20 percent or less. A skull icon next to the monster icon on the mini-map signals that you've reached this threshold. At this point, quickly set up either a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap to immobilize the Hirabami.
Once trapped, swiftly use a Tranquilizer to knock the monster unconscious. Timing is critical here; you have only a brief window before the Hirabami escapes. Successfully capturing Hirabami ends the fight and secures you the standard rewards, though it may reduce your chances of obtaining additional materials from striking its weak points.
That's all you need to know to defeat and capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds. Don't forget to bring Large Dung Pods or use the SOS feature to make the fight more manageable.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
