The Last of Us Season 4? Mazin Weighs Narrative's End

Author : Finn Mar 17,2026

The hit TV adaptation of 'The Last of Us' was already greenlit for Season 3 before Season 2 premiered. But what about a fourth season? Series showrunner Craig Mazin has strongly suggested a Season 4 is practically necessary to tell the full story.

In an interview with Collider, Mazin acknowledged that trying to conclude the narrative from Naughty Dog's two video games solely in Season 3 would make that season impossibly long. While there's a "decent chance" Season 3 will be longer than Season 2, he stated, "there’s no way to complete this narrative in a third season."

He added, "Hopefully, we’ll earn our keep enough to come back and finish it in a fourth. That’s the most likely outcome."
