Rockstar Releases Bully Anniversary Update After Six Years

Rockstar, the creators of the beloved GTA series, have just released an Anniversary Edition update for Bully on mobile platforms. After a six-year hiatus, this update is a significant event for fans, but it's exclusive to mobile devices, leaving console and PC players waiting on the sidelines.

Rockstar Hasn’t Forgotten about Bullworth Academy!

The update for Bully: Anniversary Edition brings several enhancements, primarily focusing on new language support, stability improvements, and bug fixes. One notable change is the temporary disablement of Friends Challenges, indicating Rockstar's commitment to refining the game's experience.

For Android users with compatible devices, the update introduces Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (SSAO), enhancing visual depth and realism. Additionally, the app icon has been refreshed, and haptic feedback has been added to both iOS and Android platforms, making the gameplay more immersive.

Several mission-specific bugs have been addressed. The notorious locker-picking issue in the mission 'That Bitch' has been resolved, as well as the progression glitch in 'Weed Killer' caused by breaking a window too soon. The physics problem in 'The Rumble,' where police cars would fall through the floor, has been fixed. Moreover, the update corrects the odd behavior where enemies would not engage Jimmy in combat, ensuring a more balanced gameplay experience. Crashes that occurred when starting a new game or loading saves from the pause menu have also been eliminated.

What Do Players Have to Say about Bully: Anniversary Edition?

The Bully community has been vocal about their desire for a sequel, Bully 2, which was reportedly in development during the 2010s but was shelved in favor of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the lucrative GTA Online. With GTA 6 on the horizon, the prospects for Bully 2 seem dim, especially with many original developers no longer at Rockstar.

While the Anniversary Edition update isn't a full remaster or a sequel, it's a welcome upgrade for mobile players. For those new to the series, Bully offers a unique take on the schoolyard sandbox genre, where you play as Jimmy Hopkins, a 15-year-old navigating the challenges of Bullworth Academy with Rockstar's signature humor and open-world mischief.

You can dive into Bully: Anniversary Edition on the Google Play Store for €7.99, with the added benefit of full gamepad support for an enhanced gaming experience.
