PS5 State of Play Rumored for Impending Launch

Author : Liam Feb 22,2025

Sony's February PlayStation State of Play is reportedly scheduled for next week. Leaker NateTheHate, known for accurately predicting the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date, hinted at a State of Play during Valentine's Day week (February 10-14).

Speculation abounds regarding Sony's announcements. Several first-party titles slated for 2025 release are strong contenders. Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut (assuming "Yotei" is a misspelling) could receive a gameplay showcase and release date. Bungie's Marathon, a PvP extraction shooter, might be featured if playtesting plans remain on track. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgame, is also a possibility. While less likely, new trailers for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and potentially Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet (Naughty Dog's new IP) or Marvel's Wolverine (Insomniac Games) could appear.

Notably absent will be the recently canceled live-service games from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games (reportedly a God of War live-service title). However, Guerrilla Games' live-service Horizon project, which survived the cancellations, might finally be revealed.

Regarding third-party titles, Physint (Kojima Productions' stealth-action game) might be too early for a full reveal, while Phantom Blade Zero (S-Game's action RPG) is a more likely candidate.

Microsoft's presence is also noteworthy. A release date for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny could be announced, and the possibility of a Halo announcement for PlayStation remains intriguing.

Last year's State of Play featured Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic Frontiers, various Silent Hill projects, Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2. This provides a useful benchmark for predicting this year's announcements.
