In the world of *Pokemon GO*, the introduction of a new feature often sparks curiosity among players, and the latest addition, the Tour Pass, is no exception. Many were pleasantly surprised to discover that this new feature comes at no cost, but what exactly is the Tour Pass, and how can it enhance your *Pokemon GO* experience?
What Is a Tour Pass in *Pokemon GO*?
The Tour Pass is a fresh addition to *Pokemon GO*, debuting with the Global event for *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova. This pass is designed to enrich your gameplay by allowing you to complete various tasks to earn Tour Points. These points can then be used to unlock rewards, boost your rank, and enhance event bonuses during the GO Tour Unova event.
The Tour Pass is free for all players and will be automatically granted when the *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova event kicks off on February 24 at 10 AM local time. For those looking for an extra edge, there's also a paid version called the Tour Pass Deluxe, priced at $14.99 USD or its local equivalent. This deluxe version offers an instant encounter with Victini, along with upgraded rewards and accelerated progression through the Tour Pass levels.

Earning Tour Points is straightforward and involves engaging in familiar in-game activities such as catching Pokemon, participating in raids, and hatching eggs. Additionally, there are special Pass Tasks that refresh daily during the GO Tour, offering more opportunities to accumulate points.
These Tour Points are your key to unlocking a variety of rewards, including Pokemon encounters, candy, Poke Balls, and more, as you progress through the Tour Pass tiers. Advancing through these tiers not only grants you these rewards but also increases your Catch XP bonus during *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova. The bonuses are as follows:
- 1.5× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 2
- 2× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 3
- 3× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 4
While Niantic has kept some details under wraps, promising more information soon, we know that the highest reward tier in the free Tour Pass will reward you with a Zorua encounter featuring a special background. On the other hand, the Tour Pass Deluxe offers a unique final reward: a new item called the Lucky Trinket.

Exclusive to the Tour Pass Deluxe, the Lucky Trinket is a one-time-use item that can transform one of your friends into a Lucky Friend. This allows you to trade with them to obtain a Lucky Pokemon without the need to be Best Friends, though you must be at least Great Friends to use it. Keep in mind, Lucky Trinkets earned during GO Tour: Unova will expire on March 9, 2025, so make sure to use them within this limited timeframe.
*Pokemon GO* is available to play now, and with the introduction of the Tour Pass, both free and deluxe versions, there's never been a better time to dive into the adventure and see what rewards await you.
