In the challenging world of Path of Exile 2, the endgame can be grueling. To help players gear up, the developers have cleverly hidden encounters within the main campaign that offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon set skill points. One such encounter is with the Sisters of Garukhan, which appears twice during the campaign and grants a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance. This guide will help you locate and activate this crucial encounter.
Where To Find Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is situated in the Spires of Deshar Map during Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel of the campaign. Interacting with it grants you a +10% Lightning Resistance buff each time. The icon on the world map is subtle and easy to overlook, so many players might miss it entirely.
Given that maps in Path of Exile 2 are randomly generated, there's no fixed route to the shrine in the Spires of Dushar. However, it's always present in this map; you just need to explore thoroughly. You'll eventually stumble upon a shrine similar to the one in the image above. Approach and interact with it to claim your +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Be ready for a fight though, as activating the shrine will awaken the chakram-wielding metal automatons flanking the arena, triggering all automatons on the map to come to life and attack you.
If you've reached the checkpoint near the exit before finding the shrine, you can fast-travel back to it, saving you from navigating the entire map again.
How to Get +10% Lightning Resistance From Sisters of Garukhan
Upon interacting with the Sisters of Garukhan statues, you'll instantly receive the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This is not an item drop, nor a reward for defeating the automatons that ambush you after activating the altar; it's automatically granted upon touching the shrine.
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter repeats in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Make sure to activate the shrine both times to stack the buff for a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Why is +10% Lightning Resistance Not Activating
It's common for players to be confused when they activate the Sisters of Garukhan and see the +10% Lightning Resistance message in chat, yet their resistances menu still shows negative values.
The explanation is straightforward: completing each Act in Path of Exile 2 automatically applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). So, after completing Act 1, you'll start Act 2 with a -10% debuff. Activating the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 brings you to a net zero for Lightning Resistance. In Act 2 Cruel, you'll start with a -40% Lightning Resistance due to the cumulative debuffs from Acts 1 and 2, which then increases to -30% after your second interaction with the Sisters of Garukhan.
To confirm if the campaign's elemental resistance buffs are active, remove all your gear and check your resistances in the endgame. If you see -40% across all resistances, you haven't missed any buffs.
