"Oblivion Remastered: Iconic Line Flub Retained"

Author : Eleanor May 13,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered breathes new life into one of Bethesda's most iconic titles, enhancing visuals, gameplay mechanics, and more. Yet, the team at Virtuos made a point to preserve one of the original game's most memorable quirks.

Long-time fans of The Elder Scrolls series are well acquainted with Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf located in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first debuted on PC and Xbox 360 over 19 years ago, it became evident that Tandilwe herself could benefit from some speech training. Her voice line famously included what was believed to be a blooper from actress Linda Kenyon attempting to re-record a line.

As players embarked on their journey through a revitalized Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to see how faithful the remaster was to the original. While numerous environments, character models, and items have been revitalized, fans have been delighted to discover that many of the original game's unique quirks remain. Tandilwe’s well-known and amusing blooper is one such element that fans were thrilled to see preserved, complete with its original lack of subtitles.

In a 2019 interview with Jake 'The Voice' Parr on YouTube, Linda Kenyon, upon learning of the blooper's internet fame, insisted, "It wasn't my fault!"

While thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, debates rage on about whether the Bethesda re-release is more of a remake than a remaster. However, many are pleased to find that much of the original game's charm and imperfections have been deliberately retained. This decision by Bethesda and Virtuos to maintain these elements has been well-received by both new and veteran players.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion surprise launched for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S yesterday.
