Charging your Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is now a quicker affair compared to its predecessor. According to Nintendo Life, the upgraded $84.99 Pro Controller will take approximately three-and-a-half hours to reach full charge when using either the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or the USB-C charging cable. In contrast, the original Pro Controller requires nearly six hours for a complete charge.

Despite the reduced charging time, the battery life remains impressive, offering around 40 hours of gameplay between charges—just like its predecessor. The new controller also introduces several enhancements, such as the addition of a C button, two extra GL/GR buttons on the underside, and a slightly more compact design that makes it lighter than before.

For those who prefer sticking with their current controllers, rest assured that the original Pro Controller remains compatible with the updated system. Nintendo made the announcement during a recent 60-minute Nintendo Direct. Pre-orders, initially scheduled for early April in the U.S., were postponed to April 24 due to tariff concerns. Although the console's price stayed at $449.99, most accessories saw a price hike, with the Pro Controller increasing from $80 to $85.
