Nintendo has announced that preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 24. All major retailers have shared official details on when and how you can secure your preorder before the next-gen console launches on June 5. Walmart: Switch 2 Preorders

Walmart will open Switch 2 preorders at 12 a.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, April 24. The retailer has not provided information about in-person preorders at its physical locations.
However, Walmart is the only retailer offering free delivery of your Switch 2 console by 9 a.m. on launch day, June 5, which is a convenient perk.
Best Buy: Switch 2 Preorders

Best Buy will also begin accepting online preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2, games, and accessories at 12 a.m. ET on April 24. In addition, most Best Buy stores will open at midnight on June 5 for customers to pick up their preorders, provided they choose that option at checkout.

GameStop: Switch 2 Preorders

GameStop is starting preorders later than other major retailers—online preorders begin at 11 a.m. ET on April 24, a full 11 hours after the others.
You can also preorder in person at GameStop stores when they open on April 24. For pickup, all GameStop locations will open at midnight on June 5, allowing you to be among the first to receive the new console.

Preordering directly from the Nintendo Store is slightly more involved. First, visit the official page, log into your Nintendo account, and register your interest by selecting either the standalone console or a bundle with Mario Kart World.
After that, Nintendo will notify you via email when it’s your turn to finalize the purchase. The first round of invitations will be sent on May 8. Once you receive your email, you will have 72 hours to complete the transaction.
There are eligibility requirements for ordering through the Nintendo Store, however. Participation is limited to customers “who have purchased a Nintendo Switch Online membership with a minimum of 12 months of paid membership and at least 50 total gameplay hours, as of April 2, 2025.” If you don’t meet these criteria, you’ll need to order from another retailer.
