The 61st season of Days of Our Lives recently paid tribute to one of Nintendo's more niche franchises, leaving fans pleasantly surprised.
In a recent episode, Salem University student Aaron struck up a conversation with classmate Arianna outside his dorm. Searching for a reason to invite her inside, Aaron casually suggested she might like to come in and "play Xenoblade on my Switch." (Personally, I would have gone with Mario Kart World, but to each their own.)
To Aaron's clear surprise—and let's be honest, the surprise of viewers at home—Arianna actually accepted the offer. She gave an awkward chuckle and stepped into his room, looking as if she genuinely didn't have anything better to do. Aaron, to his credit, seemed genuinely taken aback that the suggestion worked—and rightly so.

The moment was clipped and shared on social media by Nintendeal, where many Nintendo fans expressed excitement that someone remembered Xenoblade still exists. (To those hoping for a new game announcement in last week's Nintendo Direct: we hope you're holding up okay.)
Developed by Monolith Soft, the Xenoblade Chronicles series debuted in 2010 on the Wii, with multiple sequels and re-releases over the following years. The latest entry, an enhanced version of the Wii U side-story Xenoblade Chronicles X, arrived on the Switch in March—while most Nintendo fans were eagerly awaiting news of the Switch 2.
"This show has run for 61 seasons, and I never paid it any attention until it mentioned Xenoblade," wrote Zhenghua Yang, founder of To the Moon developer Serenity Forge, after watching the clip. "Top-tier marketing."
"I don't know anything about this show, but Aaron is already my favorite character—no question about it," added another fan, AmiibroN.
Days of Our Lives originally premiered in 1965 and is still airing—now available on the streaming platform Peacock. If you've seen the full episode, let us know what happened next.
