"Mortal Kombat 1 Dataminer Finds Hara-Kiri Animations, Possible Quitalities"

A Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has uncovered what seems to be strong evidence suggesting the game will feature Hara-Kiri Fatalities in the form of Quitalities.

Redditor InfiniteNightZ shared a video showcasing what appear to be Hara-Kiri Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1. Introduced in 2004's Mortal Kombat: Deception, a Hara-Kiri finisher allows the defeated player to end their own life using a self-inflicted Fatality.

What’s intriguing is that InfiniteNightZ discovered Hara-Kiri animations for recently released DLC characters like Ghostface, indicating they might be included in a future update rather than being discarded. “After seeing that they're adding it to the downloaded roster now, I think it's highly possible,” InfiniteNightZ noted.

InfiniteNightZ further speculated that these animations could manifest as Quitalities, referencing how they’re labeled in the game’s code. Quitalities are instant finishers triggered when a player leaves a multiplayer match, a feature present in previous games. “They are listed as Quitalities, there's still hope,” InfiniteNightZ mentioned.

High-profile Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer Interloko later identified additional Hara-Kiri animations following InfiniteNightZ’s discovery.

Thanks @MatthewDim40523 for tagging me
Here are another two missing from the video, so it looks like only Omniman and Conan don’t have one.

I didn't try to trigger it in the game because I’m busy finishing some stuff for the demo of my own game [link].

While this development is exciting, it remains unconfirmed, as neither NetherRealm nor publisher Warner Bros. Games has officially announced Quitalities for Mortal Kombat 1.

The game recently gained attention with the introduction of a secret fight featuring Floyd, the pink ninja, and the community-led effort to uncover his unlock conditions. Additionally, Mortal Kombat 1 players eagerly anticipate the T-1000 guest character and possibly more DLC, though NetherRealm hasn’t confirmed additional content beyond that.
