Microsoft is rolling out exciting updates to Xbox Game Pass, enhancing the way players can earn rewards and introducing Quests for PC Game Pass members. These changes are designed to promote "age-appropriate gaming experiences," ensuring that Game Pass Rewards are accessible only to players aged 18 and above.
Xbox Game Pass offers subscribers an extensive library of games playable on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs for a monthly fee. The service features various subscription tiers, each packed with unique benefits. Among these, Quests and Rewards stand out, allowing players to earn points through specific tasks, which can then be redeemed for a variety of rewards. Microsoft is now set to revolutionize this system.
As detailed on Xbox Wire, starting January 7, Quests will extend beyond Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to include PC Game Pass players. This means more opportunities for PC users to earn points. Any player aged 18 or older with an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription can dive into Xbox Quests and the Rewards Hub from their profile. It's worth noting that to earn points, there's a minimum playtime requirement, and Quests will only apply to games within the Game Pass catalog—excluding those with third-party launchers.
Game Pass Quests and Rewards Changes
- Quests will be available for PC Game Pass members starting January 7.
- New Game Pass quests include:
- Daily Play – Earn 10 points daily by playing any game from the Game Pass catalog for at least 15 minutes.
- Weekly Streaks – Play for at least five days a week to complete your streak. The longer you maintain your streak, the higher your points. Aim for a 2-week streak to earn 2x the base streak points, a 3-week streak for 3x, and a 4-week streak or more for 4x the base streak points.
- Monthly 4-Pack – Explore the Game Pass catalog by playing four different games (for at least 15 minutes each) every month.
- Monthly 8-Pack – Challenge yourself further by playing eight different games (for at least 15 minutes each) every calendar month. The games from your 4-Pack contribute towards the 8-Pack.
- PC Weekly Bonus – Earn 150 points by playing (for at least 15 minutes) for five days or more.
- The Rewards Hub, used for tracking and earning points on Xbox consoles, the Xbox app for Windows PC, and the Xbox app for mobile, will no longer be accessible to players under 18 years old.
The updated Game Pass Quest system simplifies earning rewards with daily, weekly, and monthly opportunities, and brings back the popular Xbox Game Pass weekly streaks. Players who play for at least five days a week can boost their points. Consistent weekly streaks can increase the multiplier from 2x to 4x. Additionally, daily play of any title in the Game Pass catalog can earn points, while monthly packs encourage exploration of four to eight different games for 15 minutes each month.
Members aged 18 and older can also earn a new PC weekly bonus by playing 15 minutes a day for five days. Microsoft emphasizes its commitment to age-appropriate experiences, meaning players under 18 will not have access to these new benefits and rewards. Younger players can only earn rewards through parentally approved purchases of eligible items on Microsoft’s store. With these updates, Microsoft ensures a more engaging and rewarding experience for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
