If you ever questioned whether *Rune Slayer* qualifies as an MMORPG, look no further than its fishing mechanics - because as any gaming veteran knows, fishing automatically makes any game an MMO. Just kidding! But seriously, if you're struggling with the fishing system in *Rune Slayer*, we've got you covered. After plenty of trial and error (and more than a few missed catches), we've mastered the art of rod and reel in this game - though we should warn you, it's nowhere near as straightforward as in *Fisch*.

Gearing Up for Your Fishing Adventure

First things first: **you'll want to accept the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman** (that white-haired chap hanging around the pier with the Barracuda). He'll ask you to haul in 5 "fish" (those quotation marks will make sense soon), with a Tackle Box as your reward.

Here's the catch (pun intended): **you'll need a fishing rod and bait** to get started. Conveniently enough, Simon happens to sell both. **Grab a Wood Fishing Rod and a handful of Worms** from him - we recommend picking up 10 worms just to be safe, though the minimum seems to be 5 for successful fishing.
**Important note:** You don't actually equip the bait. The worms just chill in your inventory, silently disappearing one by one with each attempted catch. And yes - without at least 5 worms in your pockets, you might as well be fishing in a desert. Keep an eye on your worm count by slotting them into your hotbar.
The Art of the Catch

Ready to cast your line? **Select your fishing rod** (no equipping necessary - just have it accessible in your hotbar or inventory). **Hold down M1 to throw your line** into any body of water - the pier next to Simon works perfectly.
Now comes the tricky part: **watch your bobber like a hawk**. When you spot one or two ripples, **quickly press M1 again** to reel in whatever's on the line. Fair warning - **this doesn't guarantee success every time**. You'll frequently come up empty, and when you do manage a catch, there's a good chance it'll be junk rather than actual fish. The silver lining? Simon counts literally anything you pull from the water - hence our earlier "fish" in quotation marks.
During our test run, we hauled in more rusty cans than actual fish, but they all counted toward the quest. Keep trying until you've scraped together 5 "catches" of any variety.

**Once you've got your five questionable catches**, report back to Simon to collect your well-earned Tackle Box. This handy container lets you store your remaining worms, freeing up valuable inventory space. No more lugging around fishing supplies when you'd rather be adventuring!
