Nintendo has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 version will feature cloud save support after all.
While we already knew the Nintendo Switch 2 would receive enhanced versions of several Switch 1 titles, a recent disclaimer led fans to worry about missing cloud save functionality for games like this one.
Initially, Nintendo's store pages for the Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 edition stated: "Please note: this software does not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature."
The company has since updated its website for clarification. The page for Donkey Kong Bananza has removed all cloud save mentions, while the Tears of the Kingdom page now carries a revised notice: "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch."

This indicates that players will be able to move their original Switch saves to the Switch 2 version, but saves made on the new hardware cannot be moved back to the older system.
The The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition page now features the same message, confirming a consistent approach to save data transfers.
Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 recently launched, maintaining the $449.99 price point—and they sold out quickly, as anticipated. For more details, visit IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
