Holding On To Marvel’s Wolverine Updates
Insomniac Games has outlined an ambitious future plan for the studio, but remains tight-lipped about any new developments surrounding their eagerly awaited title, Marvel’s Wolverine. In a recent interview with Variety, Co-Head Chad Dezern mentioned that while the team is working on "great projects and with a really ambitious roadmap," they are focused on existing projects without revealing any information about upcoming releases. Dezern neither confirmed nor denied a 2025 release for Marvel’s Wolverine, stating, "As much as we have pent up excitement, we got to hold on to it."
Marvel’s Wolverine First Announced in 2021
Marvel’s Wolverine was first unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase 2021. Insomniac introduced the game with a captivating cinematic teaser trailer, confirming its development for the PlayStation 5.In a 2023 interview with the Kinda Funny YouTube group, Bryan Intihar, Creative Director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine is set within the same universe as Marvel’s Spider-Man, specifically in universe "1048." Given that both games were announced at the same event, fans have been eagerly anticipating a crossover or joint teaser. However, the only connection so far has been a Wolverine-themed suit named "The Best There Is" available for Miles Morales in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
In December 2023, Insomniac Games faced a targeted ransomware attack, resulting in the brief public exposure of Marvel’s Wolverine's development assets and gameplay showcase.
Insomniac Games Current Projects
Spider-Man 2 is set to hit PC platforms on January 30, 2025, as announced at New York Comic-Con 2025. Insomniac has clarified that there are "no additional story content planned for Marvel's Spider-Man 2." The PC version will, however, include all updates released since the PS5 launch, such as new suits, New Game+, and more. The game will be available in two editions: Standard and Digital Deluxe, the latter offering exclusive suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
