Navigating the expansive, randomly-generated Synthwave world of the Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can feel daunting, but the key to swift travel lies in mastering the Hoverboard. Right from the start, players have access to this essential tool, which not only serves as a sprint mechanic but also significantly enhances your movement speed across the vast landscape, all while slowly depleting your Energy.

This guide delves into how to effectively use your Hoverboard, shedding light on its summoning process and highlighting its versatile attributes that go beyond mere transportation.

How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker

To engage the sprint and summon your Hoverboard, simply hold down the Dodge input. Your character will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you maintain the Dodge input.

Controlling the Hoverboard is straightforward. By tilting the left analog stick, you can lean the board to initiate turns. The speed at which you're traveling affects the turn radius; at maximum speed, turns are slower, but at lower speeds, you'll find it easier to maneuver.

To dismount the Hoverboard, release the Dodge input. Additionally, the Hoverboard will automatically disappear if your Energy is depleted during use.

Keep an eye on your Energy level, displayed alongside your Breaker's companion. If it's running low, take a brief moment to jump off and allow it to recharge, preventing an untimely dismount.

Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses

While you can't perform tricks or attack while on the Hoverboard, Hyper Light Breaker imbues it with several unique features. Notably, the Hoverboard can float on water, allowing you to traverse inlets and rivers effortlessly. Remember, you must be riding the Hoverboard before entering the water; it won't summon if you're already submerged. No matter the entry speed or height, the Hoverboard will buoyantly return to the surface, ensuring a smooth ride.

Another useful feature is the ability to hold down the Jump input while on the Hoverboard to prepare for a jump. Although you can't double-jump, the increased speed can help you leap over larger gaps. Ducking down doesn't boost your speed or jump height but aids in timing your jumps precisely for those challenging stretches.
