This article delves into the details of this potential partnership and its implications.

Square Enix and Tencent's Potential FFXIV Mobile Game

Largely Unconfirmed

Niko Partners' recent report highlights 15 games approved for import and publication in China. Among these is a mobile version of Square Enix's popular MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, reportedly under development by Tencent. Other notable titles on the list include a mobile and PC version of Rainbow Six, along with two Marvel-based games (Marvel Snap and Marvel Rivals), and a mobile game based on Dynasty Warriors 8.

While rumors of Tencent's involvement in a Final Fantasy XIV mobile adaptation circulated last month, neither company has officially confirmed the project.

According to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad's August 3rd X (formerly Twitter) post, the FFXIV mobile game is anticipated to be a standalone MMORPG distinct from the PC version. However, Ahmad emphasizes that this information stems primarily from industry speculation and lacks official confirmation.
