Eye-Controlled Driving Hits Early Access on Android with Open Drive

Open Drive, the innovative racing game for mobile, has launched in early access on Android. Developed by SpecialEffect, a charity dedicated to enabling physically disabled players to enjoy video games, in collaboration with Sun & Moon Studios, Open Drive is designed to be an accessible and inclusive gaming experience.

What’s the Game About?

Open Drive is crafted to adapt to your preferred way of playing. Whether you use touch controls, a keyboard and mouse, switch access, or a controller, the game ensures inclusivity from the start. A standout feature is its mobile-specific eye control, allowing players who use eye gaze technology to navigate the game's open-world environments simply by looking left or right. This feature is a significant advancement in accessibility, particularly for players with physical challenges who often find themselves limited by games that only support touch or gamepad inputs. The eye control functionality spans all four of the game's diverse worlds: Stunt, Speed, Snow, and Meadow.

The gameplay in Open Drive is highly flexible, offering players the freedom to drive leisurely and collect orbs or to chase high scores with daring jumps using vehicles like the Roadster, Trickster, or Speedster. Players can also adjust the game's speed to their liking. For a glimpse of what Open Drive has to offer, check out the early access announcement trailers below.

Open Drive Is Now Out in Early Access

Open Drive seamlessly auto-detects and adapts to your chosen control method, with full support for Switch Access on Android. The game offers customized setups for various input methods, including 'Precise' and 'Classic' touch control modes, as well as configurations for Switch Access, mouse, keyboard, and Android-compatible gamepads/controllers.

Currently available in early access on Android, Open Drive's eye control feature is not yet fully implemented. However, once the complete version is released later this summer, players will be able to experience this groundbreaking feature for free. If you're intrigued, you can explore Open Drive on the Google Play Store right now.
