- Playing as Companions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you primarily play as the Wanderer, striving for peace. Your choices shape the story, and companions often join you in battle. While they fight alongside you, occasional control shifts are possible. Companions are significantly more powerful than the Wanderer, making switching a strategic advantage. Here's how:
Switching Characters in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Character switching is limited to battles where a companion is present. Before a battle, the companion selection is the last option in the war council menu. You can choose to fight alone, but companion switching isn't available then. Once the battle starts, your companion's health bar appears below yours in the bottom right corner.
Below their health bar is a blue energy meter, similar to your Musou gauge. This fills by:
- Parrying attacks
- Perfect dodges
- Assaulting officers
- Utilizing weapon arts
Most combat actions contribute, although some more slowly.
A "Change Character" button appears next to the companion's meter when it's full. Press and hold this button (View button on Xbox, C on PC, or Touchpad on PlayStation) for about a second to switch.
Playing as Companions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching characters mid-battle is recommended, as companions provide a significant power boost. Control lasts approximately one minute; the blue meter depletes, showing remaining time. Your new character starts with full Bravery and a range of powerful combat arts.
The character switch initiates with a powerful attack, so aim carefully. The companion also has a full Musou gauge and health bar, ready for their special attack.
