Dune: Awakening Releases First 'Head Start' Patch to Boost Server Stability

Author : Zoe Jun 16,2025

Dune: Awakening experienced a brief downtime earlier today as Funcom rolled out a hotfix aimed at improving server stability and resolving several issues that emerged following the game’s "head start" launch for select players on June 5.

Among the key updates in the patch was an enhancement to server stability, although no technical specifics were provided. Additionally, a new pop-up notification has been implemented to inform players that servers listed under the "Private" tab in the server browser are externally managed. (For more details on what you can expect—and what you can't—from renting a private server, we've got everything explained).

Here's a breakdown of the additional fixes included in this update:

Dune: Awakening – June 6 Hotfix 11.0.5 Patch Notes

  • Resolved an issue where certain player base placeables’ menu would fail to load if the player rapidly switched between tabs using the Q and E keys.
  • Fixed a bug that occasionally suggested a non-optimal regional server as the closest option.
  • Addressed an issue trapping players inside the Imperial Testing Station #002 boss room by removing the pentashield doors.
  • Corrected a problem causing NPCs in the Arrakeen social hub to become stuck in place.

Funcom noted that while some fixes take effect immediately upon deployment, others may require scheduled server downtime—so players should keep an eye on official in-game announcements for further updates.

Although we haven’t yet published a full review of Dune: Awakening, our team did have the opportunity to explore the game during its beta phase. “As a longtime fan of Dune, it feels incredibly rewarding to immerse myself in a world I deeply admire. Funcom has clearly invested significant effort into worldbuilding and lore, even while taking creative liberties by setting *Awakening* in a parallel universe outside established canon,” we shared in IGN's Dune: Awakening closed beta impressions preview.

“The attention to detail is impressive—small touches significantly enhance gameplay. Without giving away spoilers, this level of care extends across the game’s factions and characters, making every interaction feel meaningful and immersive for fans of the franchise.”

Curious about how players are responding so far? While the official release is still pending, Dune: Awakening has already made waves—reaching nearly 100,000 concurrent players on Steam.
