"Dune: Awakening Delayed Three Weeks for Beta-Driven Enhancements"

Author : Isabella May 02,2025

The much-anticipated open world survival MMO, *Dune: Awakening*, inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's cinematic adaptations, has been postponed to June 10, 2025. Developer Funcom announced this delay, citing the need for additional time to refine the game based on feedback from its ongoing Persistent Closed Beta. They stated that the extra time will allow them to "cook" the game a bit longer and implement crucial changes that have been identified and requested during the beta phase.

For eager fans looking to dive into the sands of Arrakis earlier, Funcom has good news: those who purchase either the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition of *Dune: Awakening* will gain early access starting June 5, 2025. Additionally, Funcom plans to host a large-scale beta weekend next month, offering more players the chance to experience the game and provide their input.

While the delay might disappoint some, Funcom is keeping the excitement alive with a combat livestream scheduled for today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, giving fans a deeper look at what to expect.

At IGN, we're thrilled about *Dune: Awakening*. As we noted in our hands-on preview, "It's easy to be sceptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that *Dune: Awakening* is one to watch."
