Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
Exciting news for Deltarune fans came during the latest Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, announcing a Switch 2 version of the game. This version will not only include chapters 3 and 4 but also introduce some exclusive features designed specifically for the next-gen console.
In a Fangamer newsletter, Deltarune developer Toby Fox revealed that the Switch 2 version will feature a unique "SPECIAL ROOM." This room will leverage the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons, allowing for a unique control scheme using two controllers simultaneously, a feature exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. Fox stated, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For those playing on other platforms, the special room will still be accessible, though with a different control scheme. Additionally, players can seamlessly transfer their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
Toby Fox also shared important pricing details in the newsletter. Deltarune will be priced at $24.99 and will include Chapters 1 through 4. While Chapters 1 and 2 were released for free in 2018 and 2021 respectively, it was previously announced that future chapters would be paid. However, Fox has now confirmed that Chapters 3-5 will be released as free updates, ensuring that players only need to purchase the game once to enjoy all future content. Fox expressed his hope that players would feel the game was "a super super super super good deal."
In addition to the game, the Deltarune soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4. Future chapters will also include free song additions, ensuring that fans get the most value out of their purchase.
DELTARUNE Chapters 1-4 are set to launch on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2.
