Crysis 4 Development Halted Amid Financial Issues

Crytek has announced a round of internal staff cuts as part of its ongoing restructuring efforts. Amidst financial pressures, the studio will let go of about 60 employees, representing approximately 15% of its total workforce of 400 individuals.

In the same update, Crytek revealed that work on the next mainline Crysis title has been paused temporarily. This choice was reportedly made during the third quarter of 2024. Currently, all studio resources are being focused on pushing forward Hunt: Showdown 1896.

The team explained that they considered moving staff to active projects such as Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the upcoming Crysis entry. However, this strategy proved impractical. Even after implementing several cost-saving measures, the studio determined that layoffs were necessary.

Looking ahead, Crytek will concentrate on expanding content for Hunt: Showdown 1896, while the much-anticipated new Crysis game has been pushed back indefinitely. The company confirmed that laid-off staff will receive severance pay and assistance with career transitions.

Despite these challenges, Crytek stays positive about its future trajectory. The studio remains dedicated to further developing Hunt: Showdown 1896 and advancing its CRYENGINE technology.
