Bandai Namco has made the surprising announcement of the impending shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. This beloved mobile version, which was launched over a decade ago and originally known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, has been a staple for many fans.
When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?
The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases have already been discontinued since April 1st, but players can continue enjoying the game until the final day. The community has voiced their disappointment, with many wishing for an offline version to keep the fun going and potentially generate continued revenue for Bandai Namco.
PAC-MAN Mobile wasn’t just about the classic arcade experience. It offered a variety of engaging modes, including the iconic 8-bit Arcade Mode, a Story Mode with numerous original mazes, and an Adventure Mode featuring limited-time themed events where players could earn exclusive skins. Additionally, the Tournament Mode provided weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels, and the game was enriched with a plethora of skins for PAC-MAN, ghosts, joysticks, and more.
The Reason
The decision to shut down the game stems from ongoing issues and bugs that have accumulated over the years, significantly impacting the player experience. The early days of PAC-MAN Mobile on Android were filled with excitement, as players competed for high scores and leaderboard rankings. Those were truly fun times.
For those looking to enjoy PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its closure, you can still download it from the Google Play Store.
