Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, and that many aspects of the film are still "being figured out."

This news shouldn't come as a complete surprise, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked if production had commenced. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

53 ImagesWhile Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a major antagonist in the third. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He plays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.

In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles shifted to the reality of the main protagonist, resulting in a drastically different outcome. Without the Spider-Man mantle, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, Miles G. Morales succumbed to villainy, leaving New York under the control of supervillains.

The conflict between this villainous Miles and the main Spider-Man will likely be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will have to exercise patience, as Deadline suggests a release date no earlier than 2026, or potentially as late as 2028 if the previous release schedule is maintained.
