Capcom has subtly teased Resident Evil 9 in a video celebrating the 10 million player milestone for Resident Evil 4. Released on April 25, the video features Ada Wong in conversation with a notorious villain, followed by scenes of Leon surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats as they approach a church.
The video takes a playful turn with Dr. Salvador playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, accompanied by a rock song. As the camera pans back, it reveals Leon fist-pumping in front of a rustic "Thank you for playing" sign.

Astute viewers noticed that when the "Thank you for playing" sign is turned on its side, the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," which is 9. While some might dismiss this as a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that a lower plank, crucial to forming the numeral, was absent in earlier parts of the video, suggesting its addition was deliberate.
"I know what you did here," said one surprised responder, accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.
Capcom has confirmed that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 9, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7."It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi said at the time. "But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." It's rumored, though not confirmed, that the game will be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
