Experience the timeless fun of the classic 29 Card Game (also known as the 28 Card Game in some regions with slight rule variations) anytime and anywhere! Typically played by four players in fixed partnerships, with partners sitting opposite each other, 29 Card Game uses 32 cards from a standard 52-card deck. These cards are divided into the usual "French" suits: hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. The cards in each suit rank from high to low as follows: J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7. The objective is to win tricks that contain valuable cards.
The point values of the cards are:
- Jacks: 3 points each
- Nines: 2 points each
- Aces: 1 point each
- Tens: 1 point each
- Other cards (K, Q, 8, 7): no points
This totals 28 points from the cards alone. In some versions, an additional point is awarded for winning the last trick, bringing the total to 29 points, which is where the game gets its name. However, many modern players do not count the point for the last trick, yet the game retains its traditional name of 29.
Traditionally, the Twos, Threes, Fours, and Fives, which are removed from the full deck, serve as trump indicators. Each player receives one of these cards in each suit. The Sixes are used to keep score, with each partnership using one red and one black Six for this purpose.
